The American School of Las Palmas (ASLP) is a private e international . It was founded by a group of American citizens who settled on the island after a NASA scientific mission in 1967. ASLP welcomes children from kindergarten through high school and offers formal education from Nursery (3 years old) to Grade 12 (18 years old).
The international student body has been an important characteristic of the institution since its founding as we receive students from all over the world.
Our educational offerings provide students with opportunities to access American, Spanish, European, and other universities around the world. ASLP is recognized by the Spanish government as a foreign school, with a program validated by the Ministry of Education, Culture and Sports and accredited in the United States.
ASLP students will learn the values and traditions of American education from preschool through 12th grade. The teaching staff at ASLP provides each of these young people with the tools to emphasize independent learning, commitment and creativity.
Learning is a reflective lifelong process to awaken and develop purposeful values, skills, and knowledge. As learners we grow our understanding and capacity to engage meaningfully with ourselves and have a positive impact on the world around us.
Educational stages of the ASLP:
Preschool Education: Students experience continuous and enriched learning with child-centered strategies. This is the foundation of learning at ASLP.
Elementary: Students engage in social emotional learning and the development of more formal academic structures. Art, music and physical education are fundamental to the curriculum. Students are immersed in English from day one.
Middle & Upper School / High School: Students will face new challenges by delving deeper into all disciplines and core content areas. They will have the opportunity to take a wide variety of courses, languages and electives.
